Lou Dobbs covered politics for CNN for several years, but now the Dobbs at the opposite end of the political spectrum as possible, the Senate or presidential candidate.

"I do not have much out there. ... I came to no conclusions and decisions," Dobbs told Reuters on rumors that he might run for New Jersey Senate and the White House in 2012 as a third-party candidates. "Do not ask to have some influence on public policy? Absolutely. Do not ask me to represent and champion the middle class in this country, and goals? Absolutely. And me."

Lou Dobbs: CNN is about to "friendly"

Dobbs left his longtime position on the cable news network last Wednesday after months of disputes stemming partly from his views on immigration, among other hot-button issue. Dobbs acknowledged his on-air opinions played a role in his output.

"[CNN] preferences in the opposite direction to my show from what the report is a debate in my view, in the middle of the road, as [CNN President] Jon Klein is styled, non-view show," he told Reuters Dobbs. . "It's not pleasant to me to sit there and read the news show - and many want to be more involved."
